Bio:
The determination and focus applied to his chosen craft led Derrick Douglas to adopt the alias “e.d.g.e” (Eternal Determination Grants Everything). As an only child, e.d.g.e’s interest in music was deeply rooted in his upbringing, taking influences from reggae, dancehall, funk, rock, and soul music. His high school years found him concentrating on creating verses in-between studies, which eventually became a full-time obsession. In 2002, e.d.g.e released his first solo mixtape, entitled “Captain Nasty’s Introduction Vol.1″.
The reviews recieved from his first project led e.d.g.e to record both “All-Star Flow” and “I’m Here To Save You” in 2004, “Consider This A Privilege” and “Year Of The Flow” in 2005 and 2006, respectively, “Clean Sneakers & Dirty Politics” in 2007, “Superiority Complex” in 2009, the Kevin Nottingham.com-sponsored “Regularly Scheduled Program” EP, the hailmegatron.net-sponsored “Napalm In The Morning” mixtape, and the Refined Hype-sponsored EP “The 29th Year” in 2010, and both TheMadBloggers.com-sponsored “Fifteen Minutes Of Fame” mixtape and I.G.O.D. x DJ Koast x the9elements.com-sponsored “All Flow Everything” album in 2011. In addition, he was featured heavily on the “Revelationz I” album from Rel!g!on, released on URBNET Records.
The single and video from that same album, “Lucid” (featuring Moka Only and e.d.g.e.), was added to rotation on two MuchMusic shows, MuchVibe and RapCity. Working on this single together led Moka Only and e.d.g.e. to record a full album together, “Dynamite Sandwich”, to be released on Domination Recordings in mid 2011. Also, e.d.g.e. has shared the stage with artists such as Common, Talib Kweli, Naughty By Nature, Theophilus London, 2 Live Crew, DJ Kool, The Roots, DJ Green Lantern, Raekwon, Zion I, Mobb Deep and Diamond D. His metaphor-heavy wordplay style ranges from mixtape punchlines to in-depth and introspective songwriting.
