Parable vs. Mac Soto

Parable vs. Mac Soto first introduced their musical collaboration with the sample-heavy, “Play,” and dig even deeper with their follow-up, “Soul.” Produced and composed entirely by Mac Soto, “Soul,” is an emotionally-driven piece with multiple musical movements. Mac Soto opens up with graceful and sincere vocals backed by soft piano notes, which quickly explodes with an aggressive breakbeat topped with Parable’s cutthroat yet honest raps. The song touches the unique, heartfelt topic of realization of fault and admission of guilt, while still maintaining an upbeat energy and drive. Stay tuned for a new song by Parable vs. Mac Soto every two weeks, leading up their upcoming project, aimed for Summer 2012 release.

Biography

Mac Soto is a singer, songwriter, and composer from Miami, FL. His relaxed, feel-good grooves and hip-hop sensibility offer a unique sound drawn from both his deep musical roots and real-life experiences. At a young age, Mac gravitated to music, learning to play piano and guitar and writing songs for various talent shows throughout his childhood. As he grew older, he eventually left Miami, settling in New York City, where he currently lives and performs. Still, Mac continues to channel both the passionate beat of his hometown and his own easygoing nature into his music, creating a style that parallels the likes of John Legend and Justin Timberlake, sprinkled with hints of everything from Urban Pop to Brazilian Samba and Acoustic Rock. The result of this synthesis is a refreshing, accessible sound that addresses serious life experiences while refusing to take itself too seriously; at once both thoughtful and carefree.

Parable has proven to be more than just a local artist. In his younger days, he dominated rap competitions nationwide, including the infamous Scribble Jam Battle and JumpOff TV’s Rap Championship, garnering over a million online views worldwide. In recent years he’s expanded through the release of several projects, college radio presence, and online press. He has completed 10 independent tours nationwide, including two mini-tours in Canada, and has repeatedly performed in major cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and countless others, opening up for artists such as Curren$y, Madlib, Sean Price, and Method Man, to name a few. Parable teamed-up with production trio Llamabeats in 2010 to release THINK TANK, a collaborative project that received praise on XXLMag.com, HipHopDX, KevinNottingham, ImFlashy, The New Times, and more, as well as placement on college radio charts. In 2011, he hit the festival circuit, having performed multiple shows at SXSW, coast-to-coast dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and even Rock The Bells.

Parable and Mac Soto have teamed up to merge brighter, appealing sounds with edgy wordplay, topped with engaging choruses and upbeat melodies. Together they speak to a variety of audiences, blending the right balance of Neo-Soul and Hip-Hop. Their first untitled EP is set for early 2012 release.
